Raru and Miri Create Task

Today I did a create task about a book called Raru and Miri. For my create task I had to choose 1 of 6 different options about creating something for the book.

I chose to use Openart to make a different book cover. To do this I had to use trial and error to make a fitting book cover her are some of my fails.

This was hard because I had to be very specific but I finally got my book cover

200 Word Challenge The Best Food I’ve Tasted

200 Word Challenge

The 200 Word Challenge is an opportunity to practice writing using just the right words. 200 Words might sound like a lot, but once you get going you’ll find yourself crossing that line easily, so be careful to only say what you NEED to.

(This whole thing is over 100 words already)

For Week One your challenge is to write a 200 word recount of a time you…

Tasted the best food you’ve ever tasted.

Remember! This week we have been learning about chronological order. Make sure you get the sequence of events in the right order.

Last Mother’s Day I was watching Youtube, I went downstairs and was told to get ready because we were going out to try a new restaurant called Slabs. Slabs was a small restaurant that was so empty it looked deserted. We were going there because it was Mother’s Day, and my mother wanted to try it because it looked like Detroit pizza. When we got there we ordered a pepperoni pizza, and a cheese pizza. When the pizza came we prayed and tried the pizza. My mother had the first bite and then I tasted it too. It was so delicious I thought it was made by a chef from heaven, and wondered how I hadn’t heard of them before. I tried the pepperoni pizza before the cheese, and thought that it was the best food I have ever had and to this day it still is. I liked it because the food was mouth watering and because the staff were really nice, kind, and super welcoming, plus the workers were always checking on us and making sure that everything was okay unlike other restaurants I’ve been to, so I hope they are doing awesome and that they’re thriving.

Term 4 Immersion Assembly

Today my school had an immersion assembly, not an emergency assembly an immersion assembly. An immersion assembly for my school is an assembly that we have at the beginning of every term and at that assembly we get told our topic for this term, our topic this term is Make it work. At our immersion assemblies each team does a presentation. There are 5 teams that have 1 or 2 year groups in them.

The first presentation was brought to us by the team 1 teachers. The team 1 teachers made a movie called Max meets his match. This movie is about a dog called Max and an animal problem solving organisation called Sofa. Sofa has to find out how they can stop Max from annoying their neighbours. They found out about Max because they were sending pamphlets in the mail and Max’s owner called them. They thought of things like fences and leashes but they knew that wouldn’t work because Max is a small dog and because he lived very close to their neighbours. After a few minutes they had a tea break talking about how they like that their building is enclosed so that people couldn’t get in, but then they realised that’s was Max needed a place that’s enclosed but big enough to play in and so they sent Max’s owner a package with a dog enclosure and than Max never annoyed their neighbours again.

Second up was team 2s presentation, for their presentation they also did a movie. In their movie they were bored in their bays and thought of ways they could upgrade them. To do this they became superheroes. The first superhero was Mrs Teleso who became a blue hulk. To make their bay better she smashed the ground and out came a picture of a castle. The next hero was Mrs Wilson, Mrs wilson became spider-man and to upgrade their bays she used her webs to make a base. The 3rd hero was Mrs Carter. Mrs Carter became a mix between Wonder-Woman and Supergirl. To make their bays better she used her whip and out came a castle. Now I don’t have enough space to tell you about the rest but I will tell you later.

Extension Catchup 2 (Storyboard Advice)

This term, the Year 5 & 6 Extension has been making a movie for our Manaiakalani Film Festival movie. Before we could start filming we had to get into groups to start storyboarding. I was in a group of 3 people including me and in that group were Jaxon, Aliana and I. This is how we did this and on top of that I am going  give you some advice. To start we got a sheet of paper with the words that we chose to storyboard. For this we had to write our ideas with arrows pointing to the words we planned them for. After we wrote the ideas down we then had to draw our ideas and write the words that belonged to the picture and some explanations to them like saying what we might need and if it’s an animation or not. Finally we needed to cut out the pictures so we could then glue them onto a bigger storyboard that had the printed word on them and then glue the explanations for them. You can see the finished story board below. For advice I would recommend planning the storyboard before you make it so that you know what your doing.
